熊谷峻Shun Kuamagai

1983年秋田県生まれ。
秋田公立美術工芸短期大学（現・秋田公立美術大学）でガラス工芸を学ぶ。
技術習得する過程において、材料である「泡や不純物がないきれいなガラス」に疑問を持ち、古いガラスの骨董や出土品、砂浜に打ち上げられた磨耗し汚れたガラスなどに着想を得て、ガラスを異素材と共に鋳造することを試み始める。
壺や器、人型のガラス作品をつくり、国内外で作品を発表している。

Born in Akita Prefecture in 1983.
Studied glass art at Akita Municipal Junior College of Arts and Crafts (now Akita University of Art). During the process of acquiring technical skills, the artist began to question the use of “perfectly clear glass free of bubbles and impurities” as a material. Inspired by antique glass objects,
excavated artifacts, and glass washed up on beaches, still bearing traces of wear and staining, he began experimenting with casting glass together with heterogeneous materials.
He creates glass works in the form of jars, vessels, and human figures, and has exhibited
these works both in Japan and internationally.
