須田剋太の水彩には、描かれたもの以上に、その場に残された熱や呼吸がある。 強く走る筆、滲み、掠れ、紙に残された痕跡。そこには、何かを整えて見せるためではない、生の感覚そのものがあるように思える。
本展では、ハタノワタル が須田剋太の水彩作品から受け取った感覚を起点に、新たな和紙作品を制作する。 和紙を漉き、重ね、削り、染み込ませる。その静かな反復の中で、須田の作品に宿る気配は、別の素材の中へと移り変わっていく。
須田剋太の水彩と、ハタノワタルの和紙。 表現の方法は異なっていても、どちらの作品にも、人の手が触れた痕跡や、制作の時間そのものが残されている。
本展では、古美術上田 より須田剋太の水彩作品を出品する。 須田の持つ激しさと、ハタノワタルの和紙が生み出す静かな陰影。それぞれの作品が空間の中で向かい合うことで、互いの存在はより深く響き始める。
作品を鑑賞するだけではなく、空間に残る気配や素材の呼吸に触れていただける場となる。
Suda Kokuta’s watercolors hold more than what is simply depicted on the surface. There is heat, breath, and a lingering presence left within them. The forceful brushwork, bleeding pigments, scratches, and traces remaining on the paper convey something raw and immediate — not an attempt to refine or beautify, but a direct expression of lived sensation itself.
For this exhibition, Hatano Wataru creates new washi works inspired by the sensations received from Suda Kokuta’s paintings. Through the repeated processes of layering, carving, soaking, and forming washi, the atmosphere contained within Suda’s works gradually transforms into another material presence.
Though their approaches differ, both Suda Kokuta’s watercolors and Hatano Wataru’s washi works retain the traces of the human hand and the quiet accumulation of time within the act of making.
This exhibition also features watercolor works by Suda Kokuta presented by Ueda arts. The intensity found within Suda’s paintings and the quiet shadows created through Hatano’s washi resonate throughout the space, allowing each work to deepen the presence of the other.
Rather than simply viewing artworks, this exhibition invites visitors to experience the lingering atmosphere within the space and the subtle breath of the materials themselves.
