吹き込まれた呼吸が、それぞれの領域で形を成し、吹きガラスならではの造形美を奏でる小林の作品。
その佇まいには、まるで「書」にも通じる美しさがあり、「ひらがな」のしなやかさを想起させます。
流れるようなその造形は、まさに旋律のように空間を満たし、私たち日本人にとって、美しい文字と同じリズムを感じさせます。自然と身体に馴染み、どこか懐かしさすら覚えることでしょう。
作品は、それぞれの要素を小林が必然的に組み上げていきますが、見る者にとっては、そのバランスはどこか偶然の産物のようにも映ります。
各作品の支点を探る行為は、作家と素材との間に静かな対話を生み出し、まるで阿吽の呼吸のように、ひとつの旋律が紡がれていくかのようです。
そして、しなやかさと美しさを極めた、唯一無二の吹きガラス作品が、小林の手によって静かに誕生するのです。
このたび、Wa.galleryにおいては初の個展開催となります。小林の貴重な作品の数々を、ぜひご高覧ください。
In the hands of Chisa Kobayashi, breath takes form.
Through the medium of blown glass, her works give shape to the intangible—each vessel a manifestation of the subtle, lyrical beauty inherent to this technique.
Their presence evokes the elegance of Japanese calligraphy and the supple curves of hiragana, drawing upon a visual language deeply rooted in the cultural and bodily memory of Japan.
Her flowing forms occupy space much like a melodic line, unfolding with a rhythm akin to that of beautifully penned characters. For Japanese viewers especially, these works may awaken a quiet familiarity—a resonance that feels both physical and nostalgic.
Though meticulously constructed, each composition carries a sense of serendipity, as if arriving at its final balance by chance.
In searching for each work’s center of gravity, a silent dialogue emerges between artist and material—a mutual breath, an a-un rhythm—through which a singular melody is composed.
From this process, works of exceptional grace and suppleness are born—distinct and irreproducible, each one a quiet testament to the artist’s mastery.
